I LOVE HEAD................skis

Head Monster i.M82
Powder to piste ratio: 70/30.Lengths: 150/161/172/183Dimensions: 122-82-108Radius: 17.7m @ 172cm
Just got on a pair of these after demoing their sister at Loveland a couple of weeks ago. These things rip through every type of snow condition imaginable....pow, chop, wind slab, groom. Hard charging the wind slab with hop turns I wasnt able to fully punch through, these suckers stayed a float of everything. It took a day to get used to the shorter length (161’s as opposed to 190's ive been riding), but once I got centered, Oh man..........
I have to admit the at the 161 length they were a little more work in the deep stuff, but through the chop and slab conditions you typically find in the bowls and steeps they totally rock'd.

So an anonymous poster left comments on a couple recent blog posts of mine. One was left on Hugs for Everybody, and another on The Power of a Smile. The links will take you directly to the posts and comments, so check them out. Now I admit I often spew some stuff that some might find sappy, stupid, gay, or what ever you might call it, its true I fully admit it, and I am completely fine with it. I mean seriously Hugs for Everybody? yeah that was meant to be goofy, and hell if you hugged your chamois you totally rock, I do it all the time, especially after a good 4 hour ride in July, I mean hell who doesn’t love their chamois? What I do find unfortunate is the comment left on the Smile post. This is sad, especially since it is the exact reason I posted that piece. There are people out there that are very unhappy, with them selves, with their given life situations, with their health, you name it. This is a reality that we often do not talk about, and something that I have once lived through. It has taken me a long time to, grow comfortable in my own skin, and the same holds true for others. When I was living in my own personal hell, I would often point fingers and such. Someone then told me, "when you point a finger at some one or something, you always have 3 pointing back at you" how true this is. When I pointed out something I didn’t like, be it a person, place, or idea all signs pointed back at me. What inside me was making me so unhappy with myself that I might feel this way?
My life is good today, I am happy with myself, and what life has offered to me. I have learned to never judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes. So, to the anonymous poster, I sincerely hope you someday find what you are looking for, whatever that might be, and I wish you happiness, peace, and love in doing so

Hugs for Everybody!
I actually have nothing relay important to say. As a matter of fact, I rarely have anything important to say. So today I just thought I would send Y'all a shout, and big ol hug. Everyone needs hugs, I personally love them, and Im ok with that. For all you anti hugers out there give it a try, just one. Try it with your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, fiancé (which is what Im gonna do), manager, CEO, CFO, your girl, your boy, dog, cat, plant, bike, trainer, rollers, chamois, what ever you want. Just try it, I'm sure you'll be glad you did.

The Ride Continues......................
Ive been hitting the alpine life lately I think I have 15 days in on the boards this winter, not to bad since I had a 1460 day break. This year has been quit a blast, I have a partner in crime who can rip right along with me. The last couple of weeks I have been picking up the bike training a bit, and I'll be honest it hurts but the season is long, and fitness will come. I will probably not have the form I had in March, April, and May of last year, but I will also probably not take all of July off from racing either.
Seasons change, new opportunities present themselves, time goes on. I have learned quite a bit about myself in the last year, this includes some profound realizations about myself, and my surroundings. I discovered what is truly important in my life, what is a necessity, and what is a luxury. I think I may be experiencing something that many people have the opportunity to experience in life, something which I have not yet had the opportunity, or the privilege to experience. I will elaborate on this some more, but all in good time.

Sad Panda
:( No more coaching for a while. I have been with CTS for the last two years and have progressed from an off the back Cat 4 to placing in the top 10's in the 3's. Words cannot describe how pleased I have been with the coaching provided through the system. Most recently I have had the opportunity to work with Renee Eastman. All I have to say is if anyone is in the market for a coach, she is the real deal. (she'll make ya fast) If the stars align right, I will be back on board with her later this summer. Until then its solo sailing for a while

Hmmmmm didnt see that one coming!
So my office decided it would be a good idea to work Saturday, rather than Monday (Christmas eve, for all you under a rock somewhere). Not to sure how I feel about that one. That just postpones skiing a day, looks like its gonna be a Sunday, Monday, and maybe even Tuesday ski weekend.
Hope everyone has a amazing Christmas. Catch you on the Flip Side!!!

In the Spirit of Giving.............
I was reading one of my favorite blogs (Bike Snob NYC) earlier today, which reminded me that its the season of giving. One of the gift Ideas was Smart Bikini Color. My personal favorite is the Passion Plum, I think it would totally rock with our VC kits.
All this fun reminded me of this little gem I had so nicely stuffed in a shoe box waiting for the perfect occasion.

Forget the Harden the F-Up bracelets, these bad boys are gonna be hot this year. I'm personally going to sport a cougar, which is guaranteed to make ya fast!
Next up is a necessity for those long road trips, or ski excursions with your wife, or girlfriend. Come on, its winter time, and all that opening and closing of the windows kills your cars gas mileage.

So next time she lets a little toot loose, give a little spray of this stuff and your good to go.
Merry Christmas!

POW, What a Weekend..........
That's right kids, all those who have been patiently waiting, hoping and praying for a measurable snowfall in the mountains finally got their wishes and prayers answered... and then some this weekend. Most Front Range resorts were reporting 30+ inches of the white gold, once everything was said and done. All it took was a little patients, and the jet stream to position itself correctly and blam-o a big fluffy snow turd fell right in our laps. It appears that things working out well for everyone that washed their cars, did a snow dance, or sacrificed an article of summer clothing to the snow gods, and apparently the good mojo is continuing with additional accumulation today, and a favorable forecast for later this week. I personally was a bit nervous last Thursday, being that I had purchased snow tires for my car. Most often a move like that would alter the moods of the snow gods and their gifts would be granted else where. This time we were lucky and with a purchase of multiple car washes, plans for an outdoor bike ride on Sunday, and a diminishing windshield washer fluid reserve, the purchase of the snow tires seemed to have been canceled out.
Being that I was absent from work on Friday to go through some routine vehicle maintenance, I will neither confirm nor deny that there was in fact 9" of new snow on top of 7" of accumulation from Thursday at A-Basin, or that there were powder stashes well in excess of 2 feet scattered through out the new terrain that the ski patrol could barely open fast enough from all the said snow accumulation. However, I can confirm that there was an additional 9" of snow on Saturday morning at A-Basin, and that the first runs of the year off the west wall, in fresh un-tracked pow was possibly some of the best skiing I have been privy to in years.
I addition to all my fun in the fluff, I was witness to Cyn's loss of Colorado Powder Virginity. Having lost my pow virginity some 10 years ago, I forgot what it was like to come from a part of the planet where snow is hard as rock (quite possibly bullet proof even), and a powder day would be considered merely a trace of snow by Colorado standards. It was indeed entertaining at times watching Cyn navigate the vast seas of fluffy white stuff linking her first turns, but the ear to ear smile once she began to get the hang of the turning technique was priceless. I have a feeling she will catch on quite fast, and will be blasting the drifts and dropping the chutes with me in no time. In fact her first drop into the cliff faces at A-Basin was quite impressive navigating knee to waist deep snow on a 45-50+ degree pitch is never easy, and this little rocket made it look effortless.
Finally, remember kids, if you fall try not to land with your feet above your head (up hill), you will quickly find out what it is like to be a turtle on its back, your legs will make 3' post holes in 3.5' of snow (if you are of midget stature like myself), and losing a ski in 2+ feet of powder can be permanent(at least till summer).
ciao.......

I Smell Your..........Clutch?
After an awesome day of skiing at A-Basin on Saturday, we embarked on a slippery journey home. The plan was to go back the way we came, which entailed going over Loveland Pass. My car kindly objected to that notion from the onset in the form of blocking both east and west bound lanes of traffic on US 6. Rather than fight gravity and become the casualty of an on coming fire truck running code, I decided to work with mother nature, and the laws of physics and go west to Dillion (actually spelled Dillon for you Future Crit organizers). Upon entering the snowy abyss called the I-70 corridor, it was soon determined that the travel time from Dillion/Silverthorn to the Eisenhower Tunnel would be a lengthy 45 min. from the thoughtful CDOT travel time boards, mind you this is 30 minutes longer than the normal travel time. The group (Cyn, me, and the committee in my head) consensus was that 45 minutes was not so bad, and rather than wait out the traffic in said Dillion we opted to get in line to the tunnel. The 8 mile journey up the 5-6% grade to one of the finest civil engineering spectacles know to Colorado was best categorized as arduous (mentally at least). The saving grace was that my co pilot is a bit loopy, and made the adventure quite humorous at times. Once we ran out of daylight the adventure turned extremely icy, and more cars became casualties to the grade and snow pack. It became the survival of those who could keep momentum. To stop would have meant a piggy back on the bed of a tow truck for the jetta. After 7.5 miles, an extremely overheated clutch, a venti Soy Latte, 23 freezouts (due to malodorous emanations), and 1 extremely close call with a white F150 the tunnel was in sight. The last 1/2 mile to the tunnel was the wildest ride I have had in the snow on 4 wheels in a long time. Finally, a 1/2 mile, at 5-10 mph, and a whole lot of "you can dooooooooo it...........all night!", stuck car dodge, slip sliding, and we were over the hump. Just under 2 hours for a drive that would typically take 15 minutes. Good Times!!!!

Last Year~For Sure; This Year~Not So Much!
The Serious Roadie:
Even the serious roadie takes some time every year to relax. He's no longer worrying about the season that's just passed, and he's not yet preparing for next season. He's just having fun. As it happens, this period of relaxation was last Thursday, from 12:00 to 4:30, and if you're a roadie worth your embrocations then you're well into training for next year's meaningless park races. At this time of year The Serious Roadie can be seen riding alone, or he can be seen riding with other identically-clad cyclists in tight formations designed to discourage any sort of autonomy or enjoyment. The Serious Roadie has temporarily downgraded from his $2,000 carbon race wheels to his $1,200 aluminum training wheels. He's also got either a Power Tap or an SRM, he's watching his watts more carefully than a security guard at a lightbulb factory, and he is under strict instructions from a highly-paid coach that he is not to ride hard lest he inadvertently compromise his chances for a top-20 finish in a Tuesday night Cat 4 training race, or, worse yet, enjoy himself. And if his spirit is not yet broken completely, or if he doesn't quite trust himself, he might even be riding a pair of Power Cranks, the cycling equivalent of a Victorian anti-masturbation device.
This hit too close to home then check out more from the Bike Snob NYC, there's some funny shizzle there!

Colorado Ski Safety Act
33-44-109. Duties of skiers - penalties.
(1) Each skier solely has the responsibility for knowing the range of his own ability to negotiate any ski slope or trail and to ski within the limits of such ability. Each skier expressly accepts and assumes the risk of and all legal responsibility for any injury to person or property resulting from any of the inherent dangers and risks of skiing; except that a skier is not precluded under this article from suing another skier for any injury to person or property resulting from such other skier's acts or omissions. Notwithstanding any provision of law or statute to the contrary, the risk of a skier/skier collision is neither an inherent risk nor a risk assumed by a skier in an action by one skier against another.
(2) Each skier has the duty to maintain control of his speed and course at all times when skiing and to maintain a proper lookout so as to be able to avoid other skiers and objects. However, the primary duty shall be on the person skiing downhill to avoid collision with any person or objects below him.
(3) No skier shall ski on a ski slope or trail that has been posted as "Closed" pursuant to section 33-44-107 (2) (e) and (4).
(4) Each skier shall stay clear of snow-grooming equipment, all vehicles, lift towers, signs, and any other equipment on the ski slopes and trails.
(5) Each skier has the duty to heed all posted information and other warnings and to refrain from acting in a manner which may cause or contribute to the injury of the skier or others. Each skier shall be presumed to have seen and understood all information posted in accordance with this article near base area lifts, on the passenger tramways, and on such ski slopes or trails as he is skiing. Under conditions of decreased visibility, the duty is on the skier to locate and ascertain the meaning of all signs posted in accordance with sections 33-44-106 and 33-44-107.
(6) Each ski or snowboard used by a skier while skiing shall be equipped with a strap or other device capable of stopping the ski or snowboard should the ski or snowboard become unattached from the skier. This requirement shall not apply to cross country skis.
(7) No skier shall cross the uphill track of a J-bar, T-bar, platter pull, or rope tow except at locations designated by the operator; nor shall a skier place any object in such an uphill track. (8) Before beginning to ski from a stationary position or before entering a ski slope or trail from the side, the skier shall have the duty of avoiding moving skiers already on the ski slope or trail.
(9) No person shall move uphill on any passenger tramway or use any ski slope or trail while such person's ability to do so is impaired by the consumption of alcohol or by the use of any controlled substance, as defined in section 12-22-303 (7), C.R.S., or other drug or while such person is under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance, as defined in section 12-22-303 (7), C.R.S., or other drug.
(10) No skier involved in a collision with another skier or person in which an injury results shall leave the vicinity of the collision before giving his or her name and current address to an employee of the ski area operator or a member of the ski patrol, except for the purpose of securing aid for a person injured in the collision; in which event the person so leaving the scene of the collision shall give his or her name and current address as required by this subsection (10) after securing such aid.
(11) No person shall knowingly enter upon public or private lands from an adjoining ski area when such land has been closed by its owner and so posted by the owner or by the ski area operator pursuant to section 33-44-107 (6).
(12) Any person who violates any of the provisions of subsection (3), (9), (10), or (11) of this section is guilty of a class 2 petty offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars.
No where in here dose it say after a boarder/skier crashes into your wife or girlfriend, can you threaten to pierce his heart with your ski pole, or kick his/her ass. This is the stuff I honestly dont understand.
